Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear two ‘large’ works: Beethoven’s “1st Piano Concerto” with soloist Emanuel Ax and Shostakovich’s “10th Symphony ”. David Afkham guest conducts.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”.  Michael Tilson Thomas leads the San Francisco Symphony in an all-Mahler program You’ll hear the “1st Symphony in D Major” and the Adagio movement from the uncompleted “10th Symphony in F# Major”.

Beethoven's "1st Piano Concerto" had it's premeiere in Vienna with the composer at the piano, 1795...Shostakovich's "10th" was premiered by the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra in 1953...

She performs with the Milwaulee Symphony Orchestra on the Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin from 1780.
