The Illinois legislature adjourned last week with no budget in place --- not even a plan to fund public schools. Illinois Public Radio Education Desk reporter Dusty Rhodes takes a look at what issues kept the lawmakers squabbling over school funding until it was too late.

The Illinois Senate approved a big change to the way Illinois funds schools Tuesday, but that doesn't ensure anything will change.

The Illinois State Museum has a deal to re-open, just days after Governor Bruce Rauner suggested that it start charging admission and look for private support. The Department of Natural Resources says lawmakers must grant the authority to charge entry fees so the museum can reopen within weeks instead of months.
