Secretary of State Jesse White is retiring after a record-breaking six terms in office. Two Republican and four Democratic candidates are campaigning to succeed him.

Secretary of State Jesse White has held the elected office nearly two decades. This year, his Republican opponent is questioning whether White will be able to serve out another four-year term if elected.

It’s been just about six months since a new Illinois law allowing 16 and 17 year olds to donate organs went into effect. Has the change made a difference for those waiting for life-saving organ transplants?

On the 21st: We learned what's behind the rising cost of childcare, and discuss why, despite those high costs, child care professionals receive low wages. We also received an update on the Illinois Independent Map Amendment and learned about the need for more minorities to sign up as organ donors.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White says he's working to dispel some of the myths that may explain why so few people of color are registered organ donors. White came to Urbana's Carle Foundation Hospital Tuesday to mark National Minority Donor Awareness Week, which was August 1-7.  He says there are currently 5,000 people on the waiting list for transplants in Illinois.
