U Of I Volleyball Coach Hambly Leaving For Stanford

University of Illinois head volleyball coach Kevin Hambly is leaving to take the same position at Stanford University. The announcement was made Monday morning. In eight seasons, he led Illinois to six NCAA regional appearances, and in 2011, took the Illini to the national title match – for the first time in school history.

Illini Start Sports Hall Of Fame, Dick Butkus In 1st Class

The University of Illinois is forming the school's first Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame and a member of its first class will be former Chicago Bears great Dick Butkus. He was named as the Hall's first inaugural member Thursday. An induction ceremony planned in Champaign-Urbana for next September.

Nunn Dismissed From Illini Basketball Team

Kendrick Nunn, who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery last week, has been dismissed from the Illini men's basketball team.  Illinois Athletic Director Josh Whitman and Coach John Groce issued a joint statement Tuesday, saying the decision was made after 'extensive deliberation.'  The two said this would 'send a strong message about what is acceptable behavior for our student-athletes.'
