A group of 25 young adults from Sub-Saharan Africa have spent the last six weeks at the University of Illinois Urbana campus.  They took part in the “Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders”, hosted by the Department of African-American Studies and the Cline Center for Democracy.

Jason Benetti is the new TV play-by-play announcer for the Chicago White Sox's home games. Thursday on 'The 21st', the Homewood native talked about growing up a Sox fan, and working through the challenge of cerebral palsy, something Benetti never saw as a limit on his career. "I was too dumb to think about it," he said.

Politicans and special interests poured millions into this 2016 Illinois primary, with this unusual election season bringing lots of interest to both the presidential and even some local races. The 21st team brings you the winners, losers and takeways the day after the election, and looks forward to the general vote in November.

The 21st, a new hour-long talk show, will launch March 14, 2016. Veteran journalist and public radio host Niala Boodhoo will host and executive produce the show.

The 21st — 21st-century radio for the 21st state — will combine relevant news and conversation with audience engagement through phone calls, social media and other digital channels.
