The Mattoon community is recovering from a shooting at the high school Wednesday that left one student injured and another in custody. Meanwhile, a licensed therapist says it may take a long time for people to process their emotions.

Police have a person in custody, following a shooting Wednesday morning at Mattoon High School, in which one person was injured. A statement posted Wednesday afternoon to the Mattoon school district website said high school officials learned of a shooter at the high school around 11:30 a.m Wednesday morning.
