Top University of Illinois administrators will pick up their bicycle gear on Monday, in preparation for participating in the Illini 4000, an annual coast-to-coast bicycle ride organized by university students to raise money for cancer research and patient support services. 

Max Levchin, the computer scientist who co-founded PayPal and Yelp, will return to the University of Illinois May 12th, to be the Urbana campus’s commencement speaker.

UPDATE: An Oct. 11 arraignment date has been set for Brendt Christensen, after a federal grand jury returned a new indictment accusing the alleged kidnapper of Yingying Zhang of murdering her as well.

Lawyers for Brendt Christensen, the 27-year-old man accused of kidnapping Yingying Zhang, are asking a judge’s permission to withdraw from the case. 

If Congress approves, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will be host to a $104 million center for research into new biofuels and bioproducts.
