Bass-baritone Jose van Dam turned 75 last year and to celebrate the event the WFMT Network put together this program using Maestro van Dam's recorded legacy.

Boulez passed away earlier this year. As Music Director of the Philharmonic for a period in the 1970s he recorded with the orchestra many of his works and other more famous works of the 20th century.

Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde" stands as one of the landmark works in the history of opera. You can hear the 'concert' version [all, music, no staged action] of Act II on tonight's "Evening Concert".

This Saturday's show will illustrate composer Richard Wagner's ethos: Go big or go home. 

Three "deeply personal works" are performed by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Music Director Edo de Waart conducts.
