Contact Tracing in Orthodox Jewish Community

Contact tracing, or letting people know as quickly as possible when they may have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for an infectious disease, is critical to slowing the spread of the coronavirus. The 21st spoke to a member of Skokie’s Orthodox Jewish community and a volunteer behind an initiative to provide confidential, hyperlocal contact tracing to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Ways To Help A Loved One At Risk Of Suicide

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and we wanted to offer some hope and solutions. The 21st is joined by a professor of pyschology, a member of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the founder of Angel Forever Foundation Suicide Prevention in Champaign, Illinois to hear more about how addressing the stigma around mental health is one thing we can do to help save lives.

Depression and Suicide Rates Increasing In Illinois

According to a Boston University School of Public Health study published last week by the JAMA Network, prevalence of depression symptoms has risen 3 times higher during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to before. The 21st spoke to the lead author of the study as well as a reporter following the rise of suicide among Black people.
