Rauner Signs Bill Reducing Pot Penalties

Gov. Rauner has approved a bill making small amount of marijuana possession punishable with fines, not jail. The new law means possessing 10 grams of pot or less will be a civil offense punishable with a fine of up to $200.

Chapman Trade Leaves Cubs Fans Conflicted

The Chicago Cubs recently traded for one of the best relief pitchers in baseball as they attempt to win the team’s first World Series championship since 1908.  Adding a player of Aroldis Chapman’s caliber should be a cause for celebration for the team’s fans.  But Chapman brings with him some off-the-field issues that have given some Cubs fans pause. Illinois Public Media's Brian Moline talks with Brett Taylor of Bleacher Nation about the move.

State Rep. Ammons On Backing Bernie Sanders, The TPP, & Gov. Bruce Rauner

State Representative Carol Ammons of Urbana came to the Democratic National Convention this week to support Senator Bernie Sanders. But the Democrat says she was not among those in the 'Bernie or Bust' group that would not support Hillary Clinton. She told Illinois Public Radio's Amanda Vinicky Wednesday that Clinton will 'really surprise everyone', and supports what Sanders says is the 'best course forward.'
