Unit 4 Hires Susan Zola As Next Superintendent

Champaign Unit 4 has promoted from within for its next superintendent. The school board announced Wednesday night that Susan Zola, currently serving as the District's Assistant Superintendent for Achievement, Curriculum, and Instruction at the District's 12 elementary schools will take over for the retiring Judy Wiegand on July 1. Zola was chosen from three candidates after a national search was conducted.

Rauner Outlines State Budget Plan To Lawmakers

In his annual budget address to lawmakers, Gov. Bruce Rauner said Illinois lawmakers of both parties agree for the first time that the state needs regulatory change as well as reduced spending. "On this, we all now agree," he said. "And that is real progress.''

Mayoral Candidate Marlin Gets Endorsement Of Local Police, Fire

An Urbana City Council member running for mayor says she wants to strengthen ties between emergency personnel, saying it will make the community safer. Alderwoman Diane Marlin picked up the endorsement Monday of Urbana Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 70 and Urbana Firefighters Local 1147. “Anytime you have an organization - the more dialogue, communication, and collaboration you have among departments makes the city work better," she said.
