The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Sylvia McNair and 3 other vocal soloists, the New York Choral Artists, and the American Boychoir in Beethoven’s “9th Symphony”.  Also on the program, Dvroak’s “Cello Concerto” with soloist Yo-Yo Ma.

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Beethoven’s “9th Symphony” from New York, Brahms’ “2nd Symphony” from Chicago, Bruch’s “1st Violin Concerto” from San Francisco, Liszt’s “1st Piano Concerto” from Carnegie Hall, then Sunday, Mozart’s K. 388 “Wind Serenade” from Lincoln Center and music by Ravel on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear music of Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Bloch, and Prokofiev on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear Brahms’ “Horn Trio” on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”.  Leif Ove Andnes plays three of Beethoven’s piano concertos as he conducts the Mahler Chamber Orchestra from the piano bench. You’ll hear the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th piano concertos.  

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Hélène Grimaud is the soloist in Beethoven’s “4th Piano Concerto”. James Gaffigan guest conducts.  Also on the program Mozart’s “Paris” Symphony and  Barber’s “1st Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Arabella Steinbacher is the soloist in Berg’s “Violin Concerto”. Manfred Honeck guest conducts. Also on the program Schubert’s “Great” C Major Symphony and Webern’s orchestration of a Bach Ricercar.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Lisa Batiashvili is the soloist in Brahms’ “Violin Concerto”. Alan Gilbert conducts. Also on the program, Haydn’s 103rd Symphony and Christopher Rouse’s “Thunderstruck.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”. Christina Pluhar leads her group “L’Arpeggiata” in a concert of works by the less-well-known composer  Luigi Rossi. You’ll hear the Sinfonia and Ballo from “Il Palazzo Incantato”.  You’ll also hear Celine Scheen and Giuseppina Bridelli in arias from “Orfeo”.
