The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra led by Vinay Parameswaran.  Violinist Julia Schilz is the soloist in Bruch’s “Scottish Fantasy”.  Also on the program, Shostakovich’s “5th Symphony” and Bartok’s “Dance Suite”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear a concert version of Mascagni’s “Cavalleriana rusticana”. Anita Rachvelishvili sings the role of Santuzza. Also on the program Bizet’s “Roma” Symphony.  The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Jeffrey Kahane is the soloist in Beethoven’s “1st Piano Concerto” while he conducts the Philharmonic from the piano bench. Also on the program, Mozart’s ”33rd Symphony” and Bach’s “Double Concerto”.

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Beethoven’s “1st Piano Concerto” from New York, Mascagni’s “Cavalleria rusticana” from Chicago, Shostakovich’s “5th Symphony” from Cleveland, Beethoven’s “6th Symphony” on “Collectors Corner” then Sunday a Holiday special and an episode of “Early Music Now”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Prokofiev’s “2nd String Quartet” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider” is pre-empted so that we can bring you a Hanukkah special from NPR: “Hanukkah Lights 2020”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel” with another program in a series of recordings by the Berlin Philharmonic led by Wilhelm Furtwängler. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Erich Röhn, Brahms “4th Symphony”, and Strauss’ “Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear selections from the 2019 Cooper International Violin Competition. Shihan Wang plays Mendelssohn’s “E Minor Violin Concerto”. Also on the program, Eric Charles Chen plays Prokofiev’s “2nd Violin Concerto” and Isabella Brown plays the Dvorak “Violin Concerto”.  

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Matthew Halls conducts a complete performance of Handel’s “Messiah”.
