The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Magnus Lindberg’s “ExPo” from New York, Barber’s “Violin Concerto” from Chicago, Beethoven’s “9th Symphony” from San Francisco, Respighi’s “Pines of Rome” from Carnegie Hall, then Sunday, Schubert’s  “Arpeggione” Sonata from Lincoln Center and music by Bartok on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Shostakovich’s “4th String Quartet” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear Mozart’s “Gran Partita” on the third program from the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the third program in a new series of “Carnegie Hall Live” broadcasts. Mariss Jansons leads the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Brahms’ “4th Symphony”. Also on the program Richard  Strauss’ “Four Symphonic Interludes from “Intermezzo”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the third program in a new season from the San Francisco Symphony. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “3rd Symphony”, the “Heroic”. Also on the program Michael Tilson Thomas’ “From the Diary of Anne Frank” with soprano Isabel Leonard as the soloist.

Regular listeners to the "Evening Concert" series may note that this work was on a Chicago Symphony Orchestra program 8 days ago. When the orchestras put together their radio series they don't consult each other. So, on occasion there's an unintended synchronicity/repetition of compositions, like the Mahler "9th".
