The Evening Concert

Wednesday night July 12 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the second program in a new series from the Los Angeles Philharmonic. You’ll hear Shostakovich’s “5th Symphony” led by Gustavo Gimeno. Also on the program Saint-Saens’ ‘5th Piano Concerto” the “Egyptian” with soloist Javier Perianes.

Tuesday night July 11 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Music Director Riccardo Muti lead the CSO in Philip Glass’ “11th Symphony” and Jessie Montgomery’s “Hymn for Everyone”. The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.

Monday night July 10 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From a series of concerts recorded in 2014 you’ll hear soloist Yefim Bronfman play two of Beethoven’s piano concertos, the 1st and the 4th. Alan Gilbert conducts.  Also on the program Anthony Cheung’s “Lyra”.

Sunday night July 9 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Beethoven’s Opus 29 “String Quintet” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Beethoven’s “Razumovsky” “String Quartet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by guitar music from Brazil and Cuba on “Fiesta”.

Friday night July 7 at 6:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s Gateways Radio. Garrett McQueen is your host. You’ll hear Bach’s “1st Keyboard Concerto” featuring a then 12-year-old Seth Blumer and Piazzolla’s “Libertango”. Also on the program Kevin McKee’s Vuelta del Fuego as performed by the Gateways Brass Collective.

Thursday night July 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the first program from this year’s “Carnegie Hall Live” series. Yannick Nezet-Seguin leads the Philadelphia Orchestra in Ravel’s “La Valse” and Liszt’s “1st Piano Concerto” featuring soloist Daniil Trifonov.

Wednesday night July 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the first program in a new series from the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by Gustavo Dudamel. You’ll hear Mozart’s “Serenata notturna” and his “Flute and Harp Concerto”. Also on the program John Adams “I Still Dance”.

Tuesday night July 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  From the archives you’ll hear Ravel’s “Mother Goose” Suite and the “Noble and Sentimental Waltzes". Also on the program, Ligeti’s “Violin Concerto” featuring CSO concertmaster Robert Chen.

Monday night July 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear William Grant Still’s “2nd Symphony” and Adolphus Hailstork’s “Done Made My Vow”.  Also on the program is a new work by Courtney Bryan and Tazewell Thompson called “Gathering Song”.

Sunday night July 2 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s “Souvenir de Florence” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Glazunov’s Opus 39 “String Quintet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Antonio Estevez on “Fiesta”.
