The Evening Concert

Monday night March 17 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear an all-star cast perform a concert version of Janacek’s opera “The Cunning Little Vixen”. Soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian sings the title role. Alan Gilbert conducts.

Sunday night March 16 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 you’ll hear Saint-Saens’ “Caprice on Danish and Russian Airs” and Chausson’s “Concerto for Violin, Piano, and String Quartet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 it’s “Exploring the Roots” on “Fiesta”.

Friday night March 14 at 7:00 on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear a program titled “Germany Circa 1700”. Broadcasting this program Friday nights at 7:00 permits us to collect new local recordings for use on future “Prairie Performances”.

Wednesday night March 12 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear Haydn’s “44th Symphony”, Ligeti’s “Lontano for Orchestra” and Richard Strauss’ “Death and Transfiguration’. Barbara Hannigan guest conducts.

Tuesday night March 11 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra”. You’ll hear Jessie Montgomery’s “Hymn for Everyone” and Shulamit Ran’s “Legends” plus other works performed by women Kyung-Wha Chung and Jacqueline Du Pre.

Monday night March 10 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on W-I-L-L 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s “5th Symphony”.  Also on the program Carter Brey plays Dvorak’s “Cello Concerto” and two of the “Suites for Unaccompanied Cello” by Bach.

Sunday night March 9 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 you’ll hear Janacek’s “Violin Sonata” and Dvorak’s last “String Quartet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 7:00 you’ll hear chamber music from Brazil, Spain, and Portugal on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 "Classical Music" from Santa Fe.

Friday night March 7 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear a program titled “Antwerp, Crowned with Roses”. Broadcasting this program Friday nights at 7:00 permits us to collect new local recordings for use on future “Prairie Performances”.

Wednesday night Mar 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra. Music Director Franz Welser-Möst leads the group in Mahler’s “7th Symphony”. Also on the program baritone Simon Keenlyside sings songs by Mahler.

Tuesday night March 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9 FMHD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Donizetti’s “Overture to Don Pasquale”, Verdi’s “Four Seasons” and Chabrier’s “Espana”. Also on the program the world premiere of Golijov’s “Megalopolis” Suite”.
