Wednesday night February 7 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing perform Li Huanzhi’s “Spring Festival Overture” and Ma Sicong’s “2nd Symphony”. Also on the program Ravel’s “Bolero” and Brahms’ “3rd Symphony”.
Tuesday night February 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Nielsen’s “Helios Overture” and Lalo’s “Symphonie espagnole” featuring violinist Ray Chen. Closing out the program is Brahms “4th Symphony”.
Monday night February 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Esa-Pekka Salonen’s “L.A. Variations” and Richard Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben featuring concertmaster Frank Huang. The program closes with Haydn’s “103rd Symphony”.
Sunday night February 4 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mozart’s “Divertimento for Two Horns and Strings” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music of Gloria Villanueva on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 by another episode of “Gateways Radio”.
Thursday night February 1 at 7:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 … it’s the fifth episode in a series new-to-WILL: “The Sound of 13” hosted by Garrett McQueen”. It’s a program that examines the intersection of the 13th Amendment and classical music. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.
Wednesday night January 31 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Shostakovich’s “5th Symphony” as performed by the Oslo Philharmonic led by Klaus Mäkelä recorded at last summer’s Edinburgh Festival. Also on the program both of Ravel’s piano concertos with soloist Yuja Wang.
Tuesday night January 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Glinka’s “Overture to ‘Ruslan and Ludmila” and Shostakovich’s “5th Symphony”. Also on the program Lera Auerbach’s “Cello Concerto” featuring cellist Gautier Capuçon.
Monday night January 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Wagner’s “Overture to Tannhauser”, Debussy’s “La Mer”, Berg’s “Lyric Suite” and Elliott Carter’s “Symphony of Three Orchestras” as well as other works.
Sunday night January 28 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear a chamber-sized version of Mozart’s “12th Piano Concerto” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music of Arturo Marquez on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 by another episode of “Gateways Radio”.
