The Evening Concert

The Vienna Philharmonic presents its ever-popular annual concert from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna. Christian Thielemann conducts. You'll hear your favorite waltzes, polkas and more. It’s a live event from Vienna starting at 5:00 p.m. their time, 10:00 a.m. our time.

Starting at 10 PM and going until 2 AM it’s NPR’s “Toast of the Nation”.  

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel” with a program featuring Ruggero Ricci in violin concertos by Brahms, Sibelius and others.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear the last live-in-concert recording ever made by George Szell. On the program Mozart’s “Symphony No. 40 In G Minor” and Sibelius’ “2nd Symphony”.   

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Mitusko Uchida is the soloist in Mozart’s “20th Piano Concerto in D Minor”. Also on the program Stravinsky’s “Firebird” Suite.  The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week” with a program of great symphonies from the archive. Kurt Masur leads the Philharmonic in Brahms “3rd” and “4th” Symphonies. Also on the program Beethoven’s “1st” Symphony.

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Brahms’ “3rd Symphony” from New York, Mozart’s “20th Piano Concerto” from Chicago”, Sibelius’ “2nd Symphony” from Tokyo, Brahms’ “Violin Concerto” from Los Angeles, then Sunday chamber music from Lincoln Center and an episode of “Early Music Now”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Brahms’ Opus 25 “Piano Quartet in G Minor” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear music of Michael Praetorius on “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 we pre-empt “Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel” so that we can bring you this year’s socially-distanced “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” from King’s College, Cambridge. Our broadcast will have been recorded only hours earlier on this day.  

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 we pre-empt the Cleveland Orchestra Radio Network program so that we can bring you two holiday specials from “Harmonia”: “Noel, Noel”, and “There Were Shepherds”.
