The Champaign County Coroner’s office has identified dismembered human remains found in Clinton Lake last Sunday as those of 24 year old Ashley Gibson of Urbana.
The person known as "Individual A'', who alleges Dennis Hastert sexually abused him decades ago and was promised more than $3 million to keep quiet has filed a lawsuit, saying he's only been paid about half the money.
The Champaign City Council considered and rejected setting up a citizen police review board in 2007. Now, at a Tuesday night study session, it will hear a proposal to study the idea again --- through a “working group” set up by the police department.
Gov. Bruce Rauner has signed SB 2059, which provides $600 million in emergency funding for Illinois' public universities through the rest of the semester. In a statement, the governor says "now is the time to build on this bipartisan momentum and focus on enacting a truly balanced budget for Fiscal Years 2016-2017." But he reiterated his call for business reforms at the same time.
