Some areas in northern Illinois and Iowa have been hit with a foot of snow.
A labor union of home health care workers has filed legal action to force the government to pay health insurance costs. SEIU Healthcare Illinois filed the temporary restraining order against the governor and comptroller. The state owes $11.8 million since July.
The labor movement have succeeded in making its voice heard, but that's all: The non-binding measure passed 15 to 1.
A Parkland spokesperson says the threat came in about at 10:20 a.m. Thursday. The community college quickly cancelled classes and evacuated. "We are taking this seriously enough to err on the side of caution," said Parkland's Patty Lehn. UPDATE - The school has announced it's reopening campus at 6 a.m. Friday after law enforcement completed their search.
The opening ceremony came one week after the nearly 21 acre facility began supplying roughtly 2% of electricity used by the University of Illinois Urbana campus.
