Parkland College President Tom Ramage says nine positions will be cut next week, once the community college completes a voluntary separation program that's yielded $1 million in savings. He sent a mass e-mail to staff Thursday.  The annoucement comes days after Parkland Trustees approved an 11-percent tuition hike.

Einhorn was a television sports pioneer who helped set the stage for the wall-to-wall coverage of college basketball that's common today and is a member of the college basketball Hall of Fame.  He was vice chairman and co-owner of the White Sox.

Acklin, the recently retired superintendent of St. Joseph-Odgen High School, says his career in education would translate well to a role in the legislature.  He's one of three GOP candidates vying to succeed Adam Brown in Illinois' March 15 primary.

On Tuesday, Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz announced she would not be filing criminal charges against Champaign Police Officer Matt Rush, the subject of multiple lawsuits alleging excessive force.  The head of the U of I's Police Training Institute weighed in on the state's use of force measure.

After nearly 11 years, Champaign City Council member Marci Dodds says she's resigning.  She and husband Jon "Cody" Sokolski are moving to Chicago, where Dodds says he can take advantage of his music career.  Dodds says she's proudest to have been part of votes on watershed projects, and a summer youth job program.
