Art Theater Co-op Holds Other Events In Wake Of Projection Problems

Champaign’s Art Theater Coop is looking for other ways to entertain while its digital projection system is down. General Manager Austin McCann says troubleshooting could take a couple more days. He says a 'burst of creativity' includes plans for a Monday night airing of the 1938 Orson Welles radio broadcast of "The War of The Worlds."

McCann says a technician is making a second trip to the theater Tuesday with hopes of resuming screenings.

“It’s not actually a known problem," he said. "It’s one of these kinds of mysterious computer problems that we have since it is just a very expensive computer that is our projector.”

Other tenatative events include a trivia night on Tuesday, and the playing of classic movie soundtracks on Wednesday.

Concessions will be open, but McCann says the “Art No-Movie Theater” events are otherwise free.
