Illinois’ 13th Congressional District Among ‘Most Even In The Country’
Republican Rodney Davis of Taylorville is running for a third term in Illinois’ 13th Congressional District. After winning a close race against Democrat David Gill in 2012, Davis cruised to re-election in 2014 against Democrat Ann Callis.
In 2016, the Democratic Party hasn’t put any of its resources toward defeating Davis in the November election. Former Macon County Commissioner Mark Wicklund won an uncontested primary in March, but Wicklund’s campaign had less than five thousand dollars cash on hand as of June 30th according to the Federal Election Commission. Compare that to more than a million dollars for the Davis campaign.
Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline discussed the 13th District with Chris Mooney, Director of the University of Illinois Institute of Government and Public Affairs. Mooney says demographically, the district is one of the most even in the country.
