Promise Healthcare Taking Over Urbana School Health Center
The Urbana School District has a new operator for its School-Based Health Center, which offers medical, dental and counseling services to all children in Urbana School District 116, from its location near Urbana High School.
Champaign-based Promise Healthcare has taken over from Crossing Healthcare of Decatur.
Promise Healthcare Executive Director Nancy Greenwalt said they will be working to expand their services by adding a pediatric licensed clinical social worker, or LCSW, to provide mental health counseling in the schools a few days a week.
Greenwalt said they’re also working on expanding services to family members of enrolled students.
Representatives will be reaching out to families this week during school enrollment events.
“We’ll have staff there helping people schedule for physicals and introducing them to the clinic,” she said.
The Urbana School-Based Health Center is a partnership between the Urbana School District, the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, and Promise Healthcare.
