Rauner & Area Officials To Meet To Discuss Exelon Proposal To Protect Clinton, QC Nuclear Plants
News-Gazette reporter Tom Kacich talks with Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline about a meeting set for Thursday between Gov. Bruce Rauner, and area officials to talk about a new plan from Exelon, which it says must be passed into law to prevent it from closing its Clinton and Quad Cities nuclear power plants.
While the Chicago-based company is very profitable overall … Exelon says those two plants are losing millions of dollars each year.
Exelon wants help from the state of Illinois to keep the plants open. A more expensive plan stalled in Springfield last year. Exelon’s new proposal would provide it with $150 million in state assistance.
