University of Illinois Board Of Trustees Approves 2018 Budget
The University of Illinois Board of Trustees has approved a 2018 spending plan.
The trustees approved a $6.53 billion budget across the three U of I campuses for 2018. That’s an almost 1.5% increase over 2017.
Executive Vice President and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Barbara Wilson, reported to the board that state funding for 2018 dropped by more than $66 million. "The state appropriation we receive this year is below the FY 1995 level of state funding in nominal dollars; so not taking into account inflation," Wilson said.
The university will add a 1% salary increase in total for next year.
The U of I will freeze tuition for a third straight year. Wilson says that’s to keep the university affordable and accessible to as many as possible.
