Inmate Dies At Satellite Jail, Foul Play Not Suspected

Champaign County Sheriff's Dan Walsh says Toya Frazier 45, of Savoy, was found not breathing in her cell early Tuesday evening, and later pronounced dead at Carle Hospital.  Sheriff Dan Walsh believes that a medical issue is the likely cause, but Illinois State Police will investigate the matter.  A preliminary autopsy didn't reveal a cause of death.

Standoff In Rantoul Ends In Apparent Suicide

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said Jacob K. Morrissey, 26, Mahomet, was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.  A report from the Champaign County Sheriff says Morrissey appears to have shot himself while in the attic of a Rantoul home late Monday night.

UIC Suspect Arrested In University of Chicago Threat

The University of Illinois at Chicago says a student living off campus, 21-year old Jabari R. Dean, is in custody related to a threat at the University of Chicago Monday. It led to the school canceling all classes and activities scheduled for Monday on its main campus.  Dean is charged with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce.

UI Prof Improves Upon Asian Carp Research

U of I Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences Professor Cory Suski's latest research involves juvenile Asian carp.  Like the adults, he says high concentrations of carbon dioxide will make the eight-day old fish also feel 'woozy' and swim away.
