​Three Champaign County Board candidates whose nominations faced challenges will now get their names on the November ballot without opposition.

Jon Rector, one of the Republicans running for Champaign County Clerk in Tuesday’s primary wants to take additional steps to maintain voting integrity in local elections. But his opponent, Matt Grandone thinks the move isn’t necessary.

 The Champaign County clerk has rejected a request for more early-voting locations from student leaders at the University of Illinois campus in Urbana-Champaign.

While a new Illinois law allows for easier voter registration, the Champaign County Clerk is warning potential voters to double-check their status.
