The National Weather Service confirms four tornadoes in Illinois on Friday night. One storm in the Metro East area struck an Amazon warehouse, killing at least six people. While most people take shelter during a tornado warning, professional storm chasers are on the road trying to study and capture them with pictures or videos. A meteorologist and severe weather enthusiast joined us to talk about how they storm chase safely.
Two tornadoes with winds up to 85 miles an hour briefly touched down in Champaign on Sunday around 2 p.m. While no one was hurt, it only took the two tornadoes about a minute to damage a number of homes in the Champaign area, knocking out the power to many more.
Storms damaged about two dozen homes Sunday on Champaign’s Copper Ridge Road. Champaign city officials say strong winds tore off the roof of one home.
The National Weather Service predicts two to five inches of "accumulation snow" for central Illinois on Sunday afternoon and evening.
