Illinois Can’t Make Next Pension Payment

Illinois won't make its next pension payment. Comptroller Leslie Munger announced Wednesday she can't, because the state doesn't have the cash. That'll require Illinois to tap into its pension accounts which could further exacerbate the impact on the funds.

Urbana Council Tentatively Agrees To Plan For METCAD Funding

Alderwoman Diane Marlin says the ordinance enables the city to commit its full $95,000 payment for 911 service, but Mayor Laurel Prussing still has the final say.  Marlin says it's just one area where local governments are suffering because of inaction by state lawmakers.

Champaign Centennial Student Arrested In Bus Incident

The male student allegedly showed off the butt of an unloaded BB gun on a school bus, claiming it was a hand grenade while on the way to Centennial High School Monday.  Champaign Police located the bus, and the student is now in juvenile detention, charged with disorderly conduct.

Frustration Mounting For Medical Cannabis Board Chair

Illinois Medical Cannabis Advisory Board Chair Leslie Mendoza Temple wants more feedback from Gov. Rauner's administration after 11 conditions were rejected for treatment.  Three of them, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, were endorsed a second time by the panel last week.
