The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Gershwin’s “Catfish Row Symphonic Suite” from New York, Brahms’ “2nd Symphony” from Chicago, Beethoven’s “3rd Cello Sonata” from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, Mahler’s “6th Symphony” from San Francisco, then Sunday Mendelssohn’s “Op. 1 Piano Quartet” from Lincoln Center and Dvorak’s “String Sextet” from Santa Fe.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” in a two-piano version on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear Dvorak’s “Piano Quintet” on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music” series.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Robert Levin is the soloist in Mozart’s “20th Piano Concerto”. Manfred Honeck conducts. Also on the program, Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony and the “1st Horn Concerto” with soloist William Caballero”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s another Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. Frank Peter Zimmermann is the soloist in Alban Berg’s “Violin Concerto” with the Berlin Philharmonic led by Kirill Petrenko. Also on the program Dvorak’s “5th Symphony” and Strauss’ “Metamorphoses”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Hilary Hahn is the soloist in Sibelius’ “Violin Concerto”. Marin Alsop guest conducts. Also on the program Brahms’ “Academic Festival Overture” and Rachmaninov’s “2nd Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Leif Ove Andsnes is the soloist in Mozart’s “23rd Piano Concerto”. Alan Gilbert conducts.  Also on the program Schumann’s “2nd Symphony” and Webern’s Op. 21 “Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. You’ll hear Gershwin’s “An American in Paris”, Copland’s “Appalachian Spring”, Bernstein’s “Fancy Free” and Griffes’ “The Pleasure Dome of Kubla Khan”. Michael Stern guest conducts.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The Berlin Music Festival” with the Berlin Philharmonic led by Vladimir Jurowski. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “5th Symphony”, Webern’s “Orchestral Variations” and Webern’s orchestration of Bach’s “Fugue in Six Voices from The Musical Offering”.
