The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony from New York, Brahms’ “Double”  Concerto from Chicago, Beethoven’s “Triple Concerto” from Bonn, Rachmaninoff’s “4th Piano Concerto” from San Francisco, then Sunday Beethoven’s “2nd Cello Sonata” from Lincoln Center and Haydn’s “Fifths” String Quartet from Santa Fe.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mendelssohn’s Op. 1 “Piano Quartet” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear Dvorak’s “String Sextet” on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the first program in a new series from the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. Music Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas leads the group in Mahler’s “6th Symphony in A Minor”.  Also on the program, the Adagio movement from Mahler’s “10th Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. Avi Avital is the soloist in Bach’s “A Minor Violin Concerto”. Also on the program Beethoven’s “3rd Cello Sonata” and Grieg’s “Holberg Suite” and Boieldieu’s “Harp Concerto”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Brahms’ “2nd Symphony” and Franck’s “Symphony in D Minor”.  Also on the program an operetta overture by Johann Strauss, Jr. and ballet music from Verdi’s “Macbeth”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  It’s an all-American music program with Gershwin’s “Catfish Row Symphonic Suite”, marches by Sousa, and songs by Cole Porter. Also on the program selections from musicals by Rodgers and Hammerstein and Lerner and Loewe.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” in a two-piano version on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear Dvorak’s “Piano Quintet” on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music” series.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Robert Levin is the soloist in Mozart’s “20th Piano Concerto”. Manfred Honeck conducts. Also on the program, Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony and the “1st Horn Concerto” with soloist William Caballero”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s another Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. Frank Peter Zimmermann is the soloist in Alban Berg’s “Violin Concerto” with the Berlin Philharmonic led by Kirill Petrenko. Also on the program Dvorak’s “5th Symphony” and Strauss’ “Metamorphoses”.
