The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s “1st Piano Concerto” from New York, Bartok’s “Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celeste” from Chicago, Shostakovich’s “1st Cello Concerto” from Milwaukee, Handel’s “Messiah” from Pittsburgh, then Sunday Tchaikovsky’s “Souvenir de Florence” from Lincoln Center, and an episode of “Early Music Now”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Haydn’s Piano Trio No. 18 on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll music in honor of St. Nicholas on “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “6th Symphony”, the “Pastoral”. Christoph König guest conducts. Also on the program, Phillip Glass’ “2nd Violin Concerto” with soloist Timothy Fain and Respighi’s “Overture to ‘Belfagor’”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Joyce Yang is the soloist in Tchaikovsky’s “1st Piano Concerto”. Stefan Asbury guest  conducts. Also on the program Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Russian Easter Overture” and Prokofiev’s “3rd Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “4th Symphony”, Weber’s “Overture to ‘Euryanthe’”, and music of Wagner from “The Mastersingers of Nuremberg”. Marek Janowski guest conducts.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  You’ll hear Beethoven’s “3rd  Symphony" and Webern’s “Im Sommerwind” guest conducted by Bernard Haitink. Also on the program Berg’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Leonidas Kavakos. The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Sergei Babayan is the soloist in Prokofiev’s “3rd Piano Concerto”. Music Director Ken-David Masur conducts.
