The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Rachmaninoff’s “3rd Piano Concerto”  from New York, Beethoven’s “2nd Symphony” from Chicago, Mozart’s “40th Symphony” from Cleveland, a “Collectors’ Corner” program on Wilhelm Furtwangler, then Sunday a “String Quartet” by Schubert from Lincoln Center and an episode of “Early Music Now”. 

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mendelssohn’s Op. 110 “Sextet for Piano and Strings” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear music from Spain as performed by Hesperion XX” on “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel”.  On tonight’s program you’ll hear a compilation of broadcasts recorded between 1955 and 1966 of tenor Fritz Wunderlich singing songs by Brahms, Schubert, Beethoven, Wolff, Strauss and Schumann.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear Bruckner’s “5th Symphony in B-flat Major” with Herbert Blomstedt guest conducting.  Also on the program Mendelssohn’s “3rd Symphony” in A  Minor, the “Scottish”.

Tonight at 7:00 on FM 90.9 the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast on the “Evening Concert” is pre-empted so we can bring you “Election 2020 Coverage”. You’ll get up to the minute coverage from NPR as well as local results and reactions from the W-I-L-L News Team.

In an all-Mozart program from the archives, Emanuel Ax is the soloist in Mozart’s “22nd Piano Concerto” with former Music Director Alan Gilbert conducting. Also on the program, Mozart’s “Great” “C Minor Mass”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel”.  lt’s an all-Schubert program with pianist Grigory Sokolov playing the D.960  “Piano Sonata in B-flat major”, the D. 894 “G Major Piano Sonata”, and the four Opus 90 “Impromptus”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear Berlioz’ “Symphonie fantastique”. Michael Tilson Thomas guest conducts.  Also on the program Tilson Thomas’ “Meditations on Rilke” featuring vocalists Sasha Cooke and Dashon Burton.
