The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel”.  lt’s an all-Schubert program with pianist Grigory Sokolov playing the D.960  “Piano Sonata in B-flat major”, the D. 894 “G Major Piano Sonata”, and the four Opus 90 “Impromptus”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear Berlioz’ “Symphonie fantastique”. Michael Tilson Thomas guest conducts.  Also on the program Tilson Thomas’ “Meditations on Rilke” featuring vocalists Sasha Cooke and Dashon Burton.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. David Fray is the soloist in Beethoven’s “3rd Piano Concerto”. Riccardo Muti conducts. Also on the program Beethoven’s “Overture to Egmont” and Hindemith’s “ ‘Mathis der Maler’ Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. In a program from the archives,  Bernard Haitink guest conducts the Philharmonic in Mahler’s “Ninth Symphony in D Major”. Also on the program, Webern’s “In the Summer Wind”.

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mahler’s “9th Symphony” from New York, Beethoven’s  “3rd Piano Concerto” from Chicago, Berlioz’s “ ‘Symphonie fantastique” from Cleveland, a “Collectors’ Corner” program on Grigory Sokolov, then Sunday Mozart’s K. 502 “Piano Trio” from Lincoln Center and an episode of “Early Music Now”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Schubert’s D. 581 “String Trio” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear the group La Caccia perform music from 16th century Antwerp on “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel”.  You’ll hear  legendary pianist Grigory Sokolov from his 2008 Salzburg Recital.  He plays two Mozart piano sonatas and music of Scriabin, Chopin, and Rameau.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Pekka Kuusisto is the soloist in Nielsen’s “Violin Concerto”. Hannu Lintu guest conducts. Also on the program Nielsen’s “Helios Overture” and Sibelius’ “Finlandia” and “5th Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Haydn’s “48th Symphony”, Beethoven’s “4th Symphony” and Berio’s “Folk Songs” as sung by Dawn Upshaw, a 1982 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University (!)
