The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  Music Director Riccardo Muti conducts the CSO in two Beethoven symphonies: the famous “5th Symphony” and the “2nd symphony in D Major”.  Also on the program Bacri’s “Ophelia’s Tears”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  Yefim Bronfman is the soloist in Beethoven’s “2nd Piano Concerto in B-flat Major”. Jaap van Zweden  conducts. Also on the program Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Symphony”. 

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Beethoven’s “2nd Piano Concerto” from New York, Beethoven’s  “5^th Symphony” from Chicago, Strauss’ “Aus Italien” from Cleveland, an episode of “Collectors’ Corner” featuring tenor Lauritz Melchior, then Sunday music of Gottschalk from Lincoln Center and the return of “Early Music Now”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear the Escher Quartet plays Mozart’s “Prussian” String Quartet on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet on the “Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”.  Sir Antonio Pappano leads the National Youth Orchestra of the United States in Richard Strauss’ “An Alpine Symphony”.  Also on the program Berlioz’ song cycle “Summer Nights” with soloist Isabel Leonard.  

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. Leonidas Kavakos is the soloist in Stravinsky’s “Violin Concerto”, part of an all-Stravinsky program with Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas conducting. Also on the program the 1947 revisions of “Petrushka” and “The Rite of Spring”.
