The Evening Concert

Thursday night August 24 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”. Anne-Sophie Mutter and her Mutter Virtuosi play Vivaldi’s RV 580 “Concerto in B Minor for Four Violins”. Also on the program the Saint-Georges Opus 5, No. 2 “Violin Concerto in A Major”.

Wednesday night Auguat 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Recorded in April of this year you’ll hear Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade”. Tianyi Lu guest conducts.  Also on the program Schumann’s “Piano Concerto” with soloist Sun-Wook Kim.

Wednesday night August 22 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  Recorded in March of this year you’ll hear the CSO Chorus and vocal soloists in Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana”. Osmo Vanska guest conducts.  Also on the program Rautavaara’s “Cantus Arcticus”.

Monday night August 21 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  From concerts recorded in 2014 you’ll hear Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” and his “Clarinet Concerto” featuring soloist Marc Nuccio. Also on the program Grofe’s “Grand Canyon Suite”.

Sunday night  August 20 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Elgar’s Opus 84 “Piano Quintet” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by guitar works of Augustin Barrios on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 by David Baker’s “Saxophone Concerto” on “Gateways Radio”.

Thursday night August 17 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “Carnegie Hall Live”.  You’ll hear Schubert’s “8th Symphony” and the “Mass No. 6” as performed by the Cleveland Orchestra. Also on the program Berg’s “Lyric Suite”. 

Wednesday night August 16 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Recorded in April of this year you’ll hear Brahms’ “1st Symphony”. Rafael Payare guest conducts.  Also on the program vocal soloist Dorothea Roschmann sing Wagner’s “Wesendonck Leider.

Tuesday night August 15 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Daniel Binelli as the soloist in Piazzolla’s “Bandoneon Concerto”. Giancarlo Guerrero guest conducts.

Monday night August 14 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.  From concerts recorded in 2010 you’ll hear Mahler’s tragic “6th Symphony”. Also on the program Mozart’ “Overture to the Magic Flute”.

Sunday night August 13 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Reynaldo Hahn’s “Piano Quintet” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by Latin American classical chamber music on “Fiesta” and at 8:00 by William Levi Dawson’s “Negro Folk Symphony” on “Gateways Radio”.
