The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Wagner’s “Prelude to Act I of Lohengrin” and Tchaikovsky’s “4th Symphony”. Also on the program Julia Adolphe’s “Viola Concerto” with soloist Cynthia Phelps.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear the Emerson String Quartet play Dvorak’s “13th String Quartet” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear music by Brazilian composer Radames Gnatalli on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night April 13 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a new series from the Deutsche Welle Festival Concerts. You’ll hear the opening concert from last year’s Beethoven Festival with the Budapest Festival Orchestra led by Ivan Fischer in Beethoven’s “3rd Symphony” and works by Bartok, and Ligeti.

Wednesday night April 12 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the second program in a new series from the San Francisco Symphony led by their new Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen.  You’ll hear Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” and “La Mer”.

Tuesday night April 11 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s Overture to The Ruins of Athens and Philip Glass’ “Symphony No. 11”. Also on the program Beethoven’s “4th Piano Concerto” with soloist Mitsuko Uchida.

Monday night April 10 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear Wagenaar’s “Cyrano de Bergerac Overture” and Beethoven’s “7th Symphony”. Also on the program Korngold’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Hilary Hahn.

Sunday night April 9 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear a wind quintet arrangement of Ravel’s “Le Tombeau de Couperin” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear Latin American music for Easter on “Fiesta”.

Thursday night April 6 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a new series from the Deutsche Welle Festival Concerts. You’ll hear works by Johann Sebastian Bach and his son Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach recorded last June in St. Thomas Church, Leipzig, a place where JS Bach worked in his lifetime.

Wednesday night April 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the first program in a new series from the San Francisco Symphony led by their new Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen.  You’ll hear Beethoven’s “7th Symphony” and Hannah Kendall’s “Tuxedo”.

Tuesday night April 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear John Adams’ “The Chairman Dances” and Dvorak’s “8th Symphony”. Edo de Waart guest conducts. Also on the program Stravinsky’s “Violin Concerto” with soloist Leila Josefowicz.
