Monday night April 3 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear vocal soloists Sherezade Panthaki, Reginald Mobley, Leif Solén, and Jonathon Adams and the Handel and Haydn Society Chorus in Handel’s “Messiah”. Masaaki Suzuki conducts.
Sunday night April 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Leonard Bernstein’s “Clarinet Sonata” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear cellist Carlo Prieto and pianist Edison Quintana on “Fiesta”.
Thursday night March 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra” led by guest conductor Osmo Vanska. You’ll hear Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique”. Also on the program Joan Tower’s “A New Day” for cello and orchestra.
Wednesday night March 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Mozart’s “20th Piano Concerto” with soloist Leif Ove Andsnes and Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Symphony”. Petr Popelka conducts the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. The program differs from the one listed in Patterns Magazine.
Tuesday night March 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “6th Symphony” the Pastoral” and Bottesini’s “2nd Double Bass Concerto” featuring Alexander Hanna as soloist. Also on the program Jessie Montgomery’s “Hymn for Every One”.
Monday night March 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Ying Fang and Matthias Goerne are the vocal soloists in Brahms’ “A German Requiem”. Also on the program Tchaikovsky’s “4th Symphony”.
Sunday night March 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Joseph Schwantner’s “Black Anemones for Flute and Piano” on the “Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear an all-Alberto Ginastera program on “Fiesta”.
Thursday night March 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra” led by guest conductor Sir Mark Elder. You’ll hear Mozart’s “12th Piano Concerto” featuring soloist Paul Lewis. Also on the program Richard Strauss’ “Death and Transfiguration”.
Wednesday night March 22 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Sibelius’ “Violin Concerto” with soloist Christian Tetzlaff performed with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra led by John Storgårds. Also on the program, Per Nørgård’s “8th Symphony”.
Tuesday night March 21 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear some classic recordings made with conductors Carlo Maria Giulini, Fritz Reiner, and Seija Ozawa including Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”, waltzes by Johann Strauss Jr. and Janacek’s “Sinfonietta”.
