Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast

Tuesday night July 18 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. You’ll hear a Grammy-winning performance of Mahler’s “8th Symphony”, the “Symphony of a Thousand”, made in Vienna in 1971 featuring vocal soloists Heather Harper and Lucia Popp among others. Sir Georg Solti conducted the performance.

The New York Philharmonic This Week

Monday night July 17 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From a series of concerts recorded in 2014 you’ll hear soloist Yefim Bronfman play two of Beethoven’s piano concertos, the 2nd and the 3rd. Alan Gilbert conducts.  Also on the program Sean Shepherd’s  “Songs”.

Marin Alsop leads the São Paolo Philharmonic in its first ever visit to Carnegie Hall in Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade”. Also on the program Villa-Lobos’ “Harmonica Concerto”.
