The Evening Concert

Sunday night June 5 at 6:00 on FM 90.9 the “Evening Concert” starts with Bach’s “2nd Orchestral Suite” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Beethoven’s “Archduke” Piano Trio from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Mozart Camargo Guarnieri on “Fiesta!”.

Thursday night June 2 at 7:00 on FM 90.9 the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is delayed so that we can bring you the debate between the Republican Party candidates for the Illinois 13th Congressional District, Regan Deering,  Matt Hausman, Terry Martin, and Jesse Reising.  The MSO presents a concert version of Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel".

Wednesday night June 1 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. Till Fellner is the soloist in Beethoven’s “3rd Piano Concerto”. Music Director Manfred Honeck conducts.  Also on the program Haydn’s “Overture to ‘Armida’” and Mozart’s “39th Symphony”.  

Tuesday night May 31 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  Concertmaster Robert Chen is the soloist in Max Bruch’s “1st Violin Concerto”.  Marek Janowski guest conducts. Also on the program Mendelssohn’s “Hebrides Overture” and Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony.  

Monday night May 30 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From a 2019 concert recording you’ll hear Bernstein’s “Overture to ‘Candide’” and music by Copland and others.

Sunday night May 29 on FM 90.9 the “Evening Concert” starts at 6:00 with Stravinsky’s “Dumbarton Oaks” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Bach’s “1st Brandenburg Concerto” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by Latin salon music on “Fiesta!”.

Thursday night May 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Music Director Ken-David Masur leads the group in two of Haydn’s “Paris” symphonies, numbers 85 and 86. Also on the program music by Joseph Boulogne.

Wednesday night May 25 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. The Orchestra is joined by the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and vocal soloists Rachele Gilmore, Werner Gura, and Alexander Elliot in Haydn’s oratorio “The Creation”. Music Director Manfred Honeck conducts.

Tuesday night May 24 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”.  Julian Rachlin makes his CSO debut as conductor and violin soloist in two “Four Seasons”, Vivaldi’s and Piazzolla’s.  Also on the program an early Divertimento by Mozart.  

Monday night May 23 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. The Philharmonic is joined by the New York Choral Artists, the Dessof Symphonic Choir and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus plus eight vocal soloists in Mahler’s “8th Symphony”.
