The Evening Concert

Sunday night July 2 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s “Souvenir de Florence” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Glazunov’s Opus 39 “String Quintet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Antonio Estevez on “Fiesta”.

Friday night June 30 at 6:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s Gateways Radio. Garrett McQueen is your host. You’ll hear Florence Price’s “3rd Symphony” performed by the Gateways Orchestra.  Also on the program a string quartet version of Duke Ellington’s “Take the A Train” and music by Margaret Bonds.

Thursday night June 29 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. From the 2022 Beethoven Festival you’ll hear Beethoven’s “Kreutzer” Sonata in a version for violin and orchestra. Also on the program Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique” played by the Aurora Orchestra.

Wednesday night June 28 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. The featured work is Respighi’s “Pines of Rome”. Also on the program Bartok’s “3rd Piano Concerto” with soloist Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Jessie Montgomery’s ‘Strum”.

Tuesday night June 27 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. The program opens with Bach’s “5th Brandenburg Concerto. Also on the program, Mozart’s “39th Symphony” and Prokofiev’s “5th Symphony”.

Monday night June 26 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear the first works recorded in the newly renovated David Geffen Hall: Mozart’s “22nd Piano Concerto” and Bruckner’s “7th Symphony”.

Sunday night June 25 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 you’ll hear Cesar Franck’s “Piano Quintet” from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Mendelssohn’s “2nd String Quintet” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by Latin American music for the ballet on “Fiesta”.

Friday night June 23 at 6:00 on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s Gateways Radio. Garrett McQueen is your host. You’ll hear Samuel-Coleridge Taylor’s “Fantasy-Piece No. 2” and Fela Sowande’s “Jubilate, Go Down Moses”. Also on the program William Grant Still’s “Sahdji”.

Thursday night June 22 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s a Deutsche Welle Festival Concert. From the 2022 Berlin Music Festival you’ll hear Mahler’s “6th Symphony”, the “Tragic” and Kaija Saariaho’s “Orion” as performed by the Concertgebouw Orchestra led by Klaus Mäkelä.

Wednesday night June 21 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the San Francisco Symphony. The broadcast starts with Steven Stucky’s “Radical Light”, continues with John Adams’ piano concerto “Must the Devil Have All the Good Tunes?” featuring Vikingur Ólafsson and closes with Sibelius’ “5th Symphony”.
