The Evening Concert

On Saturday, April 30, 2022, a group of Champaign-Urbana's finest musicians gave a concert of Praise and Worship music.

Thursday night May 12 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Music Director Ken-David Masur leads the group in Vaughan Williams’ “Concerto Grosso” and Elgar’s “Serenade for Strings”.

Wednesday night May 11 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”.   Lorna McGhee is the soloist in Ibert’s “Flute Concerto”. Also on the program Ravel’s “Noble and Sentimental Waltzes” and the “Firebird Suite by Stravinsky.

Tuesday night May 10 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Music Director Riccardo Muti conducts the CSO in Smetana’s entire symphonic cycle “Ma Vlast”. Also on the program Wagner’s “Siegfried Idyll”.

Monday night May 9 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Emanuel Ax is the soloist in Haydn’s “11th Piano Concerto” and Stravinsky’s “Capriccio”. Also on the program Mozart’s first and last symphonies.

Sunday night May 8 on FM 90.9 the “Evening Concert” starts at 6:00 with chamber music from Santa Fe, followed at 7:00 by Mozart’s K. 388 “Wind Serenade” from Lincoln Center and at 8:00 by music of Revueltas on “Fiesta!”.

Thursday night May 5 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. From their archives you’ll hear Dvorak’s “Stabat Mater” with Zdenek Macal at the podium. Also on the program Dvorak’s “Czech Suite”.

Wednesday night May 4 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”.   Igor Levit is the soloist in Mozart’s “21st Piano Concerto”. Music Director Manfred Honeck conducts. Also on the program Richard Strauss’ “An Alpine Symphony”.

Tuesday night May 3 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Music Director Riccardo Muti conducts the CSO in Franck’s “Symphony in D Minor” and Bates’ “Alternative “Energy”. Also on the program Mozart’s “’Haffner’” Symphony”.

Monday night May 2 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Yefim Bronfman is the soloist in Beethoven’s “2nd Piano Concerto”. Music Director Jaap van Zweden conducts. Also on the program Rachmaninoff’s “2nd Symphony” and Gershwin’s “Cuban Overture”.
