A new group says they oppose any school referendum that would build a new Champaign Central High School on the north edge of the city.
Illinois has more than 850 school districts and over 13,000 school administrators in its K-12 system. Gov. Bruce Rauner says those numbers are bloat to the system and is calling for a paring down of what he calls "education bureaucracy."

Gov. Bruce Rauner lit a fire under labor unions in Illinois earlier this week when he suggested local governments — like counties or cities — should be able to implement their own right-to-work laws. On Thursday Rauner went one step further, saying government unions should be banned from contributing to political campaigns.
The professor whose job offer was rescinded over comments made on Twitter seeks to be re-instated to the position, along with unspecified monetary damages.
