Edwardsville Attorney Runs For 13th Dis. Congressional Seat
Erik Jones, a former Illinois assistant attorney general, is the latest Democrat to announce his bid for Republican Rodney Davis’ seat in Congress.
Jones, of Edwardsville, calls Davis a “backslapper” who’s been giving the voters lip service. Jones says if the voters choose him, he’ll be a “bulldog” instead, focused on results.
For example, Jones accuses Davis and other Republicans of backing alternatives to Obamacare that would raise costs and keep coverage out of reach for many.
Jones says he supports proposals that would increase coverage.
“For those who don’t have options, let people buy into Medicare, so that they can at least have options to purchase health insurance”, said Jones. “So in case they get sick, they know that they’re not going to go bankrupt to have the healthcare they need.”
Jones is joining other Democrats running for Illinois’ 13th congressional district seat, including David Gill of Bloomington, Betsy Londrigan of Springfield and Benjamin Webb of Normal.
