The Suite of music from "The Firebird" by Stravinsky comes from his 1910 ballet of the same name...Shostakovich's concerto comes 23 years later.
Chicago Tribune critic John von Rhein calls the CSO production "a complete triumph" (cso.org). This is the first time that the CSO has ever perfomed this work.
