Illinois' medical marijuana pillot program has been extended from January 2018 to July 2020. The measure signed last week by Gov. Bruce Rauner also means PTSD and terminal illness are now among the qualifying conditions. But the primary sponsor of the pilot program also means it will become more difficult to add more qualifying conditions.

There's an agreement in place between Gov. Bruce Rauner to extend Illinois' medical marijuana pilot program.  Legislation filed Friday would extend the program to July 2020, and add two more qualifying conditions - post-traumatic stress disorder and terminal illness.  The measure still requires a vote by lawmakers.

All Illinois residents pay the same income tax rate. Now a plan is afoot to change that, with a constitutional amendment, to have the wealthy pay more.

While a handful of sites grow Illinois' first medical marijuana, those suffering from a number of conditions are waiting for the first dispensaries to open. There's also an effort underway to expand the pilot program that expires in just over two years.
