Nathan Gunn sings the lead role and directs the classic Mozart opera, opening Thursday night at Kranner Center for the Performing Arts.
This production is a bit different than most shows from Lyric Theatre at Illinois, as it’s a bit of a “greatest hits” show, featuring Lyric Theatre students, the U of I Symphony Orchestra, and the U of I Oratorio Society performing some of the best known arias from Verdi and other Italian opera composers.

Nominees included Champaign-based Archeophone Records (in two categories), renowned bariton U of I Lyric Theatre Director Nathan Gunn, and Urbana native Molly Netter, who was featured in a recording by the New York-based Clarion Choir.
