The Evening Concert

This week starting Monday, March 21 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Brahms “1st Symphony” from New York, Ginastera’s “Harp Concerto” from Chicago, Handel’s “Messiah” from Pittsburgh, Schubert’s “9th Symphony” from Beijing, and Sunday chamber music by Tansman from Lincoln Center and “Fiesta! With Elbio Barilari”.

Sunday night March 20 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear two sonatas by Mozart on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear guitar music by disciples of Andres Segovia on “Fiesta!” With Elbio Barilari”.

Thursday night March 17 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “This Week from China’s National Centre for the Performing Arts”. Lang Lang is the soloist in Beethoven’s “Emperor Piano Concerto”. Also on the program Brahms’ “Song of Destiny”.

Wednesday night March 16 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. Maximillian Hornung is the soloist in Shostakovich’s “1st Cello Concerto”. Pablo Heras-Casado guest conducts.  Also on the program Tchaikovsky’s “1st Symphony” and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio Espagnol”.  

Tuesday night March 15 at 7:00 on the Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Barbara Hendricks is the soprano soloist in Del Tredici’s “Final Alice”. Former Music Director Sir Georg Solti conducts. Also on the program Weber’s “Overture to Oberon”.

Monday night March 14 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Garrick Ohlsson is the soloist in Martinŭ’s “4th Piano Concerto”. Xian Zhang guest conducts. Also on the program Haydn’s “95th Symphony” and Sibelius’ “1st Symphony”.

Monday March 14 through Sunday March 20 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Martinŭ’s “4th Piano Concerto” from New York, Del Tredici’s “Final Alice” from Chicago, Shostakovich’s “1st Cello Concerto” from Pittsburgh, Beethoven’s “Emperor Piano Concerto” from Beijing, and Sunday chamber music by Mozart from Lincoln Center and “Fiesta! With Elbio Barilari”.

Sunday night March 13 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Beethoven’s “Clarinet Trio” on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear music by José Pablo Moncayo” on “Fiesta!” With Elbio Barilari”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “This Week from China’s National Centre for the Performing Arts”. You’ll hear Beethoven’s “1st Symphony” and an orchestrated version of Bach’s “Chaconne in D Minor”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra”. The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh joins the orchestra in Haydn’s “Mass in a Time of War”. Also on the program Mozart’s “Paris” Symphony.
