The Evening Concert

This week on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear Berlioz’s “Summer Nights” from New York, Beethoven’s “Emperor Piano Concerto” from Chicago, Berlioz’s “Harold in Italy” from Carnegie Hall, Mahler’s “1st Symphony” from Los Angeles, then Sunday Beethoven’s “5th String Quartet” from Lincoln Center and Latin American chamber music on “Fiesta! With Elbio Barilari”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 you’ll hear a string quartet by Haydn on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”.  At 8:00 you’ll hear music from the “Day of the Dead” on “Fiesta! With Elbio Barilari”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Beethoven’s “Triple Concerto” is the featured work. Music Director Gustavo Dudamel conducts.  Also on the program Andrew Norman’s “Sustain” and Esa-Pekka Salonen’s “L.A. Variations”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s Carnegie Hall Live. You’ll hear the Vienna Philharmonic led by Valery Gergiev play Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”. Also on the program Leif Ove Andsnes plays Ballades by Chopin and Sir Andras Schiff plays a Fantasia by Mendelssohn.

Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. From the CSO archives you’ll hear two large and lengthy symphonies: Berlioz’ “Symphonie fantastique” and Shostakovich’s “10th Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. From the Philharmonic archives you’ll hear Beethoven’s “Triple Concerto”, Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Diverse Instruments”, Hindemith’s “Violin Concerto” and Corigliano’s “Clarinet Concerto”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Jean-Yves Thibaudet is the soloist in Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”.  Also on the program Copland’s “Appalachian Spring Suite” and Schumann’s “2nd Symphony”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s Carnegie Hall Live. You’ll hear string quartets by Haydn, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and Janacek played by four different groups: the St. Lawrence String Quartet, the Pavel Haas Quartet, the Takacs Quartet and the Elias Quartet.
