The Evening Concert

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 Kirill Gerstein is the soloist in Tchaikovsky’s “1st Piano Concerto”. Bramwell Tovey guest conducts. Also on the program the “1812 Overture” and selections from Act IV of “Swan Lake”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 the Orion Quartet plays Mozart’s “Dissonance” string quartet on “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center”. At 8:00 you’ll hear music by Raphaella Aleotti and others on the “Early Music Now With Sara Schneider”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel”. It’s an all-Bernstein program. You’ll hear the suite from “On the Waterfront”, the “2nd Symphony” subtitled “The Age of Anxiety”, the Chichester Psalms, and the “Serenade After Plato”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the Cleveland Orchestra. You’ll hear Mahler’s “5th Symphony” in C-sharp Minor”. Music Director Franz Welser-Möst conducts. Also on the program Olga Neuwirth’s “Clocks Without Hands”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast” with audio from their archives. Carlo Maria Giulini leads the CSO in Mozart’s “Sinfonia concertante” and Mahler’s “1st Symphony”. Also on the program Prokofiev’s “Classical Symphony”. 

Tonight at 7:00 on FM 90.9 you’ll hear the debate between incumbent Rodney Davis and challenger Betsy Dirksen Londrigan followed at 8:00 by a shortened “Evening Concert”: Berlioz’ “Symphonie fantastique” on “The New York Philharmonic This Week”.

Tonight at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on FM 90.9 it’s “Collectors’ Corner with Henry Fogel”. Tenor Lauritz Melchior was the preeminent Wagnerian tenor of the ‘20s, ‘30s, and ‘40s. You’ll hear him sing arias from Wagner’s Parsifal, Tristan und Isolde and Siegfried.
