The Evening Concert

If it has some meaning to you, the Messiah is (mainly) in the Key of D major, bright, uplifting....

You'll hear some "Classics" and some new programs in this week's offerings.

Mozart favored the viola in many ways, espcially in the String Quintets, like tonight's one in C Major, K. 515, a late work of the Maestro.

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is pre-empted this evening for two Holiday specials that celebrate Hannukah.

The three teenaged finalists perform their chosen violin concerto with the Cleveland Orchestra. What an honor for them (and us to hear them!)

and Michael Tilson Thomas guest conducts the group.

The cello soloist and the viola soloist are the 'musical voices' to the two main characters of "Don Quixote" in his tone poem on that subject.

New York Philharmonic celebrates 175 years with a concert, the "4th" that may be with you is Beethoven's "4th Piano Concerto"... Cleveland hosts the Cooper International Violin Competition and way more on this week's "Evening Concert"

Music by Prokofiev and Schubert, and other chamber works from 7 - 9 p.m. tonight.

Also on the program an overture from one of Mozart's operas and Elgar's "First Symphony".
