Beethoven's "3rd" Piano Concerto was premiered in 1803 with the composer as the soloist...the film "Our Town" is a 1940 movie adaptation of the famous 1938 Thornton Wilder play.
Beethoven's "1st Piano Concerto" had it's premeiere in Vienna with the composer at the piano, 1795...Shostakovich's "10th" was premiered by the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra in 1953...
This New York Philharmonic program brings together recordings from the Philharmonic archives. Alexander Kaplen was fond of these particular works.
